                          INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

                         For Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000

Files:
  The PCI installation contains the following files:
    INSTALL.TXT             this file
    PCI_LC.INF              plug-&-play card identification file
    PCI_LIB.DLL             for user developed interfaces
    PCI_LIB.H               for user developed interfaces
    WDREG.EXE               installation tool
    WDUSB.SYS               Windows 2000 plug-&-play driver
    WINDRVR.SYS             Windows NT/2000 run-time driver
    WINDRVR.VXD             Windows 95/98/ME run-time driver

BOARD Identification:
  The Group3 PCI and ISA loop controller cards are easily distinguishable:
    PCI loop controller card:
      Each card has a rotary switch on the top edge of the circuit board.
      Each card has six circular holes on the rear metal bracket.
    ISA loop controller card:
      Each card has a set of jumpers on the circuit board.
      Each card has one or three elliptical hole on the rear metal bracket.

WINDOWS 95:

Installation:
 1. Power-off the computer, insert the Group3 PCI loop controller card
    into any vacant PCI slot and power-on the computer.

 2. The "Update Device Driver Wizard" window will appear.
    Insert the floppy disk labeled "Loop Controller Installation Disk"
    into the floppy disk drive and select "Next".
 3. Tick the "Other Locations" box only and either:
    type in A:\PCI (where A: is the floppy drive) then select "Next" or
    select "Browse" and locate the A:\PCI directory then select "Next".
 4. A window will appear identifying a found driver:
    "Group3 PCI Loop Controller".  Select "Finish".

 5. Copy the file WINDRVR.VXD from the floppy disk (PCI directory)
    to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32 directory on the hard drive.
 6. Copy the file PCI_LIB.DLL from the floppy disk (PCI directory)
    to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory on the hard drive.
 7. Run the driver installation program on the floppy disk:
    "WDREG.EXE -vxd install".
    eg select the Windows "Start" button, then "Run", then type in:
    "A:\WDREG.EXE -vxd install" and select "OK".

Verification:
 1. Plug-&-play device found:
    Right-click the My Computer icon, select properties and select the
    "Device Manager" tab.
    There should be an entry labeled "Group3 Loop Controllers" with
    a sub-entry labeled "Group3 PCI Loop Controller".
    If the properties button is pressed now, there will be a long delay
    before the properties screen is displayed (Windows 95 only).
 2. WINDRVR installed:
    Run REGEDIT.EXE (click the Start menu, click Run, type "regedit", press
    Enter) and inspect the
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD branch
    for a "WinDriver" entry.
 3. Run the program "LC_TEST.EXE" on the floppy disk.  It will display
    a list of loop controllers installed in the computer using the installed
    drivers.

Removal:
 1. Run "WDREG.EXE -vxd remove".
 2. Delete the files installed in 5 and 6 above.
 3. Power-off the computer and remove the Group3 PCI loop controller card.

WINDOWS 98/ME:

Installation:
 1. Power-off the computer, insert the Group3 PCI loop controller card
    into any vacant PCI slot and power-on the computer.

 2. The "Add New Hardware Wizard" window will appear.
    Insert the floppy disk labeled "Loop Controller Installation Disk"
    into the floppy disk drive and select "Next".
 3. Choose "Search for the best driver ..." and select "Next".
 4. Tick the "Specify a location" box only and either:
    type in A:\PCI (where A: is the floppy drive) then select "Next" or
    select "Browse" and locate the A:\PCI directory then select "Next".
 5. A window will appear identifying a found driver:
    "Group3 PCI Loop Controller".
    Select "Next" then select "Finish" at the last window.

 6. Copy the file WINDRVR.VXD from the floppy disk (PCI directory)
    to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32 directory on the hard drive.
 7. Copy the file PCI_LIB.DLL from the floppy disk (PCI directory)
    to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory on the hard drive.
 8. Run the driver installation program on the floppy disk:
    "WDREG.EXE -vxd install".
    eg select the Windows "Start" button, then "Run", then type in:
    "A:\WDREG.EXE -vxd install" and select "OK".

Verification:
 1. Plug-&-play device found:
    Right-click the My Computer icon, select properties and select the
    "Device Manager" tab.
    There should be an entry labeled "Group3 Loop Controllers" with
    a sub-entry labeled "Group3 PCI Loop Controller".
 2. WINDRVR installed:
    Run REGEDIT.EXE (click the Start menu, click Run, type "regedit", press
    Enter) and inspect the
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD branch
    for a "WinDriver" entry.
 3. Run the program "LC_TEST.EXE" on the floppy disk.  It will display
    a list of loop controllers installed in the computer using the installed
    drivers.

 2. Delete the files installed in 6 and 7 above.
 3. Power-off the computer and remove the Group3 PCI loop controller card.

WINDOWS 2000:

Installation:
 1. Power-off the computer, insert the Group3 PCI loop controller card
    into any vacant PCI slot and power-on the computer.

 2. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" window will appear.
    Insert the floppy disk labeled "Loop Controller Installation Disk"
    into the floppy disk drive and select "Next".
 3. Choose "Search for a suitable driver for my device" and select "Next".
 4. Tick the "Specify a location" box only and either:
    type in A:\PCI (where A: is the floppy drive) then select "Next" or
    select "Browse" and locate the A:\PCI directory then select "Next".
 5. A window will appear identifying PCI_LC.INF installation file found.
    Select "Next" then select "Finish" at the last window.
 6. A window will appear offering to restart the computer.  Select "No".

 7. Copy the files WINDRVR.SYS and WDUSB.SYS from the floppy disk (PCI
    directory) to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS directory on the Hard drive.
 8. Copy the file PCI_LIB.DLL from the floppy disk (PCI directory)
    to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory on the Hard drive.
 9. Run the driver installation program on the floppy disk:
    "WDREG.EXE install".
    eg select the Windows "Start" button, then "Run", then type in:
    "A:\WDREG.EXE install" and select "OK".

 10. Restart the computer.

Verification:
 1. Plug-&-play device found:
    Right-click the My Computer icon, select properties and select the
    "Device Manager" tab.
    There should be an entry labeled "Group3 Loop Controllers" with
    a sub-entry labeled "Group3 PCI Loop Controller".
 2. WINDRVR installed:

 3. Copy the file WINDRVR.SYS from the floppy disk (PCI directory)
    to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS directory on the Hard drive.
 4. Copy the file PCI_LIB.DLL from the floppy disk (PCI directory)
    to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory on the Hard drive.
 5. Run the driver installation program on the floppy disk:
    "WDREG.EXE install".
    eg select the Windows "Start" button, then "Run", then type in:
    "A:\WDREG.EXE install" and select "OK".

Verification:
 1. WINDRVR installed:
